Genius Loci
2023 · 2 min · 2K Digital, Archival Stills
In classical Roman religion, a "genius loci" was the protective spirit of a place. This immersive short imagines renowned Louisiana conservationist Caroline Dormon (1888–1971) as a regenerative life force in the Kisatchie National Forest she helped preserve. An homage to Dormon and the viriditas of Louisiana’s wilderness — and in the spirit of zero waste — “Genius Loci” was created with archival stills alongside unused b-roll filmed for a number of narrative shorts I have directed or edited.
